Technical Assistance

Given the rural nature of the five-county service jurisdiction, local elected officials and civic leaders often rely upon the Commission's professional staff to keep them abreast of new programs and/or state and federal regulations which directly affect their local operations.

Examples of "technical assistance" assignments recently completed by the Commission's professional staff on behalf of local governments and the region as a whole include:

• Consultation regarding specific local needs and projects, etc.;
• General guidance in local problem solving for local governments;
• Provision of current Census information; for each of the five counties
• Serving as a liaison for local governments with state and federal funding agencies;
• Serving as a regional applicant for state and federal grant funds to address local and regional issues;
• Assistance in expanding and extending the life of area Enterprise Zones;
• Preparation of RLF Policy and Procedural Manuals, Loan Application forms and program marketing brochures; and
• Preparation of ADA Public Facilities Transition Plans.
