About the Commission

The South Central Illinois Regional Planning & Development Commision (or SCIRP&DC) was established under the Illinois Planning Act more than 30 years ago by the joint resolution of the Effingham, Fayette and Marion county boards. Effective July 1, 1997, the neighboring counties of Clay and Jasper joined the Commission's regional family. The regional organization functions at the pleasure of the local governments within its rural five-county service jurisdiction and has traditionally provided the area's public and private sector leadership with more affordable, locally accessible forms of:

• local planning services;
• local technical assistance;
• grant writing and management
• business development financing.
